Tartarini v. Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation Appeals Court Ruling

On July 23, 2012, the Massachusetts Appeals Court ruled in a case regarding the eligibility criteria used by the state limiting access to intellectual disabilities services. The court ruled that the state failed to justify its criteria regarding intelligence quotient (IQ) scores, and ordered the Department of Developmental Services to review its policies. The state has not made a decision on whether to appeal the ruling or adjust its regulatory language in response to the decision.
