Bringing Social Impact Bonds To New York City

In August 2012, New York City awarded a pay-for-success contract financed by a Social Impact Bond, to non-profit MDRC for a prevention program intended to reduce recidivism rates by at least 10% among 16- to 18-year-olds detained at New York CityÂ’s Rikers Island. This presentation explains the structure of the contract and the concept of Social Impact Bonds.
