Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Advance Payment Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Model

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have released a fact sheet on the advance payment accountable care organization (ACO) model. This model is for ACOs participating in the Shared Savings Program and ACOs applying to participate with a started date of January 1, 2013. Through the advance payment ACO model, ACOs will receive three types of payments: an upfront fixed payment, an upfront variable payment, and a monthly payment of varying amount depending on the size of the ACO.
