Walgreens Plans To Close More VillageMD Locations  

Walgreens said its VillageMD chain is closing around 160 clinics, which is about 100 more than previously announced. As part of a quarterly earnings report released in March, the drugstore chain recorded an after-tax impairment charge as it adjusted the value of its stake in Village MD.

Walgreens spent more than $5 billion to acquire a majority stake in Village MD a few years ago. At the time, it launched a plan to add hundreds of clinics to its retail stores.
