California Behavioral Health Infrastructure Bond Act AB 531 Of 2023

On October 12, 2023 the California Legislature passed this behavioral health infrastructure bond act AB 531 of 2023, and was approved by voters on March 5, 2024 as part of Proposition 1. It amended the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) of 2004. Proposition 1 renamed the MHSA to the Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA). Proposition 1 also expanded the act to include treatment for substance use disorders. It changed how county mental health plans are required to spend revenue from the 1% tax and increase the number of members on the oversight commission of the act . . .
