CMS Did Not Ensure That Selected States Complied With Medicaid Managed Care Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder Parity Requirements
In March 2024,the Ofice of the Inspector General (OIG) for the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released this report that found that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) did not ensure that selected states complied with Medicaid Managed Care mental health and substance use disorder parity requirements. The OIG selected eight states with Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) contracts in effect on or after October 2, 2017.
