DOJ Finding Of Olmstead & ADA Violations In Florida Service System For Children With Complex Medical Conditions

On September 4, 2012, the Department of Justice (DOJ) released the findings and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) violations in Florida's service system for children with complex medical conditions. After a review of the system, DOJ found that the state failed to meet ADA obligatons. Florida failed to meet ADA guidelines by unnecessarily institutionalizing children with disabilities in nursing homes. The findings included steps Florida needs to make to meet ADA guidelines.
