Digital Tool Helps Inform Chronic Kidney Disease Treatment Decisions
Researchers from Canada’s University of Calgary and colleagues designed a digital tool that accurately predicts the risks of kidney failure and death among adults with moderate to severe chronic kidney disease (CKD). The "KDpredict" tool calculates one-to five-year risks of kidney failure and death among people with moderate to severe CKD using four variables used in clinical practice.
Over a three-year period, researchers used health data from nearly 100,000 consumers with newly diagnosed CKD to develop their predictive algorithm and digital dashboard. The research was published in the BMJ. ;
