North Carolina Pilots Mobile Crisis, Co-Responder Models For Behavioral Health Crisis Response
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) is piloting new trauma-informed mobile crisis and crisis co-responder services as part of a new $1.35 million investment. The pilots will take place in partnership with law enforcement agencies in Buncombe, Person, and Orange counties. In each county, these services will deploy mental health professionals and peer support specialists with training and experience to respond to people experiencing a behavioral health emergency. These teams will offer appropriate support and work to de-escalate crisis situations.
