North Carolina Distributes More Than $6 Million For Youth Substance Abuse Prevention
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) distributed $6.25 million in youth substance abuse prevention grants in seven counties. The funding came from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), as part of its National Drug Control Strategy. North Carolina was among 12 states to receive funding for behavioral health care prevention.
NCDHHS said the grants were made in counties with high levels of economic distress, higher-than-average level of substance use among youth and young adults, and/or a higher number of youths who primarily identify as a racial or ethnic . . .
