New Mexico Medicaid To Reimburse For Community Health Workers
The New Mexico Human Services Department said services provided by Community Health Workers (CHW) and Community Health Representatives (CHR) to New Mexico Medicaid members are now reimbursable. Eligible CHW/CHR services include system navigation, health promotion and health coaching, and clinical support. CHW/CHR services will be reimbursed for outpatient Medicaid-eligible recipients, when the services adhere to the quality guidelines as set out by the New Mexico Department of Health, Office of CHWs, and when the services are medically necessary.
