Before permitting Universal Health Services (UHS) to acquire Ascend Health and its nine freestanding inpatient psychiatric facilities located in Texas, Arizona, Utah, Oregon, and Washington State, the Federal Trade Commission required UHS to divest similar facilities in markets where UHS would own all such facilities. This document explains the FTC's concerns about lack of competition in a New Mexico market and the UHS proposal to divest its Peak Behavioral Health Services facility within six months.
