July 2011 – June 2012 Problem Gambling Help Line Report: North Carolina Problem Gambling Program

The annual program statistics report was submitted to the state by Bensinger, Dupont and Associates, which operates the Gambling Help Line for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services.  During the 12 months,   the Help Line received 991 calls seeking assistance from problem gamblers or family members. About three-quarters of the calls were made by the individual with a gambling problem, the remainder were made by a family member or friend. State-funded treatment was offered to 737 callers.
