Oregon Department Of Education Legislative Presentation: 2025-2027 Special Education Funding Considerations

The report was released December 9, 2024, by the Oregon Department of Education. It was presented to the legislature as an overview of special education funding. It mentions that the current school funding formula estimates that only 11% of students will need special education services. That estimate is the maximum allocation that the state gives school districts. By the 2022-2023 school year, 14.5% of students needed special education services. During the 2023-2024 school year, 15.9% (86,560 students) of the state’s 542,271 students were enrolled in special education programs . . .
