Health Care Fraud: Types of Providers Involved in Medicare Cases, and CMS Efforts to Reduce Fraud

On November 28, 2012, the Government Accounting Office (GAO) released testimony by Kathleen M. King, GAO Director, Health Care, before the Subcommittee on Health, Committee on Energy and Commerce, House of Representatives on health care fraud in Medicare. Her testimony focused on the types of providers that have been investigated for fraud, the outcomes of those investigations, and strategies that could be used to combat Medicare fraud.
