On November 29, 2012, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services published a report on the feasibility of expanding self-directed services to people with serious mental illness (SMI). The report includes information on early self-directed care (SDC) programs, the Cash and Counseling Demonstration and Evaluation Project, mental health SDC programs, SDC programs under Medicaid and health care reform, and issues in expanding SDC programs going forward.
