The Government Accountability Office (GAO) examined the the expiring Health Coverage Tax Credit (HCTC) to its successor the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) premium tax credit. The research was conducted to examine how the expiration of HCTC and the PPACA premium tax credit, cost-sharing subsidies, and Medicaid expansion will affect HCTC participants and nonparticipants, as well as how the coverage that will be available through the PPACA exchanges compares to HCTC participants’ health plan coverage
