Dr. Franczak brings over 35 years of industry experience to the OPEN MINDS team. His experience includes clinical, operational, and leadership roles in population health, health related social needs, risk assessments, value-based care, supported housing, and services for consumers with developmental disabilities.
Prior to joining OPEN MINDS, Dr. Franczak served as the Director of Population Health at Copa Health. He was responsible for the organization, development, and direction of population health services for individuals who receive behavioral health services reimbursed thru Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance.
Dr. Franczak was also responsible for developing, overseeing and managing data analytics and alignment of services to address the needs of service participants, with a focus on management of individuals with high cost/high needs, complex conditions, preventive care needs and those who are not progressing as expected. He also led the development of data strategies and reporting metrics and serves in a consultative role to care coordination staff and initiatives within the clinical care team, including identification and assignment of participants to enhanced monitoring panels and consultation on evidence-based strategies for clinical, medical and social intervention.
Previously, Dr. Franczak served as the Chief Operations Officer of Marc Community Resources, Inc. Here, he was responsible for the organization, development, and direction of services for individuals who receive behavioral health services.
Prior to his work at Marc Community Resources, Dr. Franczak served in various roles for the Arizona Department of Health Services, Division of Behavioral Health Services. First, as the Chief, Bureau for Persons with Serious Mental Illness, Dr. Franczak was responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of a community system of care that included the transition and discharge process from state, local psychiatric, jail and correctional facilities to the community behavioral health system including admissions and readmissions.
Dr. Franczak then served as the Chief of Clinical Services. In this role, he was responsible for the organization, development and direction of the statewide clinical infrastructure and operations for the Department of Health, Division of Behavioral Health Services which operated in a managed care environment for adults and children served in both Medicaid and Non-Medicaid programs.
Previously, Dr. Franczak had served as the Senior Research Associate at Improvement Concepts Incorporated. Prior to this, he also served in director roles at two Pennsylvania organizations serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health disorders. Dr. Franczak began his healthcare career in a clinical capacity in organizations focused on serving consumers with mental health and substance abuse and addictions disorders.
Dr. Franczak earned his B.A. in Psychology from LaSalle University. He earned his M.A. in Psychology from Montclair University and his Ph.D. in Psychology from Saint Louis University.
