Alan Girard brings more than 20 years of experience in executive leadership in the health and human services field to the OPEN MINDS team. He has served in various operational roles with responsibilities for people leadership, strategy, operations, change management, clinical services, contracting, compliance, equity, and practice management.

Prior to joining OPEN MINDS, Mr. Girard served as the CEO, for Front Range Health Partners, a clinically integrated network in Wheat Ridge, CO, that provides administrative and clinical support services to behavioral health organizations. Here he gained $46 million in profits through value-based contracting and proof of performance. Mr. Girard also established the first shared data warehouse between two Colorado community mental health centers and leveraged population health and health equity analytics with partner FQHCs to evaluate care coordination and cost of care. During this time, he served concurrently as the CEO of Foothills Health Solutions, a nonprofit owned by CMHCs and FQHCs.

Previously, Mr. Girard was the Chief Compliance Officer at Jefferson Center for Mental Health. This was a contracted roll to a Medicaid managed care organization during corporate dissolution. Mr. Girard completed a successful corporate entity closure including termination of contracts and compliance activities.

Mr. Girard was also the Director of Effectiveness and Practice at Jefferson Center for Mental Health. In this role he supervised an integrated care, commercial insurance program, increasing the number of physical health co-locations to 25 and scaling the program to become the third largest program by patient and service volumes. He raised the efficiencies for multi-site front office operations through a consolidated reporting structure, cross-training, and streamlined protocols.

Mr. Girard has a Master of Business Administration in Health Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver, a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Bachelor or Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Mr. Girard is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Addiction Specialist. He holds certifications in Healthcare Compliance, Primary Care Behavioral Health, and has completed the Leadership Strategies for Evolving Health Care Executives with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
