Maryland Association of Counties Comment On Maryland Senate Bill 594 Public Health—- Use Of Opioid Restitution Fund & Training Under the Overdose Response Program 

The Maryland Association of Counties issued its support for the legislation on March 19, 2025. The legislation makes changes to appropriate uses for the state's Opioid Restitution Fund. The bill proposed expanding the range of allowable uses for fund dollars to better align with the National Settlement Agreement. In its support statement, the association said the changes will provide local governments with the tools and flexibility needed to combat the opioid crisis while remaining accountable to the public and aligned with national best practices.
