Matt Hansen brings 20 years of experience in the health care field to the OPEN MINDS team. He has a great depth of experience in the home health care field, serving both executive director and clinical operations roles.

Dr. Hansen is currently the Executive Director of the Homecare & Hospice Association of Utah, an organization dedicated to protecting people’s rights and access to care by supporting and promoting Utah’s home-based health, hospice, and personal care industries. In this role, Dr. Hansen is responsible for organizational leadership, advocacy, negotiations with governing bodies, member education, and public promotion of the industries represented by the association.

Before his work with the association, Dr. Hansen served as General Manager at Homespire, an Intermountain Healthcare Company. In this role, he was responsible for all aspects of business in the new joint venture life care management and population health organization during the start-up phase.

Prior to this role, Dr. Hansen was Clinical Operations Manager at Intermountain Homecare and Hospice where he led clinical and financial oversight of therapy, nursing, aides, social work, and office support staff. He successfully led the merger of four independent offices, standardized operations, and improved both quality outcomes and budgetary accountability.

He also served as the Director of Rehabilitation at Harmony Home Health and Hospice, a multi-state home health and hospice agency. Here, his responsibilities included quality improvement and documentation defense through the appeals process. Dr. Hansen started his earlier career as a physical therapist and instructor. He is also a professional writer and speaker.

Dr. Hansen earned his Bachelor of Arts, masters, and doctorate degrees in physical therapy – all from the University of Utah. He also obtained an MBA from the Universidad Isabel I in Barcelona, Spain.
