South Dakota Awards $7.8 Million From Opioid Settlement To 10 Projects To Combat Addiction By Closing Community Resource Gaps
South Dakota has awarded more than $7.8 million in opioid settlement grants to 10 projects intended to address addiction treatment gaps in community resources across the state. The funding is part of a larger pool of legal settlements reached with pharmaceutical companies over their role in the opioid crisis.
The state expects to receive approximately $70 million in settlement funds through 2038 and has collected about $23 million to date, of which more than $20 million has now been allocated.
