CMS Launches $50 GLP-1 Medication Demonstration Program For Medicare Beneficiaries

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a demonstration program that will provide eligible Medicare beneficiaries access to certain glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) weight-loss medications for $50 per month beginning July 1, 2026. The program is scheduled to continue through December 31, 2027.

Known as the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program, the initiative will allow eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries to access covered GLP-1 medications at a fixed monthly cost. According to CMS, the agency will centrally manage claims processing and pharmacy payment administration for the program.
