Joint Final Judgement & Permanent Injunction In The Case Of DeGross v. Senn

On May 20, 2026, the U.S. District Court in the Western District of Washington, Tacoma Division, released a joint final judgment and permanent injunction in the case of DeGross v. Senn. Under the settlement, Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is prohibited from denying or restricting a foster care license solely because of an applicant's religious beliefs about marriage, gender, or sexual relationships, and foster parents will no longer be required to use words that conflict with their sincerely held religious beliefs as a condition of being licensed . . .
