On June 25, 2026, Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy signed House Bill 73 (HB 73) into law, creating a new residential licensing category in Alaska known as "Complex Care Residential Homes" to close a longstanding gap for residents whose behavioral health and medical needs cannot be safely managed at home or through existing community-based services, yet who do not require hospitalization.
