Texas Legislative Budget Board Strategic Fiscal Review

The report was released on September 1, 2026, by the Texas Legislative Budget Board (LBB). The LBB evaluated financial, utilization, and program data from seven state agencies that are subject to review by the Sunset Advisory Commission and subject to the legislative appropriations process. The seven agencies include the Department of Family and Protective Services; Department of State Health Services; Health and Human Services Commission; Texas Civil Commitment Office; Texas Juvenile Justice Department; Texas Workforce Commission; and the Texas Funeral Service Commission.

The evaluation was conducted by the LBB staff during the 2026 to 2027 biennial strategic fiscal review process . . .
