Armor Health Expands Structured Approach To Women’s Postpartum Mental Health In Correctional Settings
Armor Health, a national correctional health care provider organization, is expanding its structured approach to addressing postpartum depression (PPD) among women in correctional settings. The approach focuses on early screening, prevention, structured treatment, and evidence-based clinical guidelines.
The framework emphasizes increased monitoring during the first four weeks after childbirth. It includes daily rounds by psychiatric technicians, weekly check-ins with behavioral health professionals, and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) screenings. From two to 12 months postpartum, consumers receive weekly psychiatric technician rounds, monthly behavioral health check-ins, and treatment-plan adjustments when clinically appropriate.
