Trump Administration Announces $51 Million For Rural Texas Nutrition & Chronic Disease Prevention Programs
The Trump administration announced a $51 million investment through the federal Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) to create or improve community-based chronic disease prevention, wellness, and nutrition programs in Texas. The funding will support rural health care provider organizations’ efforts to improve outcomes for people with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, or obesity, and to prevent these conditions.
The investment is part of the RHTP funding awarded to Texas for fiscal year 2026. The program was funded through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, which allocated $50 billion to help states change how health care is delivered.
