On January 10, 2014, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that two former executives of the now defunct geriatric health care company HealthEssentials Solutions Inc. agreed to pay more than $1 million to resolve federal allegations that they were responsible for causing HealthEssentials to submit false Medicare claims.
