Evaluation Of CMMI Accountable Care Organization Initiatives: Effect Of Pioneer ACOs On Medicare Spending In The First Year
Researchers with L&M Policy Research, LLC, analyzed Pioneer ACO savings. The analysis was conducted at the individual ACO level, and as an average for all Pioneer ACOs with each weighted by the number of aligned beneficiaries. The difference in spending growth between the Pioneer ACO beneficiaries and local and similar market fee-for-service (FFS) counterparts was calculated to show the estimated effect of alignment with the Pioneer ACO on per beneficiary spending growth.
