Massachusetts Governor Seeks Outside Probe Of Child Welfare Agency
Feeling the heat, Gov. Deval Patrick is calling on a Washington, D.C.-based group to do a "full, independent review" of the state's embattled child welfare agency in what lawmakers said last night is only a first step in fixing a broken agency. The Child Welfare League of America, a decades-old non-government organization, will conduct a months-long probe of the Department of Children and Families, administration officials said yesterday.
