Pennsylvania’s LG Health Launches Medicare Accountable Care Organization
Lancaster General Health sent letters to thousands of local Medicare patients, informing them that their doctors are now part of the health system's Community Care Collaborative. The collaborative is an Accountable Care Organization, or ACO. The collaborative was one of 123 ACOs nationwide announced in December. It became operative Jan. 1. LG Health's program is authorized for three years. The organization is beginning with a pool of 18,200 local Medicare beneficiaries who are patients of Lancaster General Health Physicians, the health system's doctor network.
