Evaluation Report: Health Services In State Correctional Institutions

In February 2014, the Minnesota Office of the Legislative Auditor released a legislatively mandated report evaluation prison-based health services delivered by the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC). DOC provides extensive medical, dental, and mental health services to offenders. The report founds that there is considerable room for improvement in the coordination of services to chronically ill inmates, the adequacy of mental health services, and DOC’s compliance with generally accepted professional standards for correctional health care.
