OPEN MINDS, The Behavioral Health & Social Service Industry Analyst Industry Statistics Sixty-seven percent of adults in the United States who experienced a major depressive episode (MDE) in the past year received treatment for their depression. Nearly 16 million adults (roughly 7.3% of the adult population of the United States) experienced a past-year MDE during 2005-2006. Of American adults who reported a past-year MDE in 2005-2006, 67.4% received some form of treatment for their depression.
