Detroit Is Privatizing Juvenile Justice Services

OPEN MINDS, The Behavioral Health & Social Service Industry Analyst Industry News The Family Independence Agency of Lansing, Michigan, and Wayne County, are in the process of privatizing juvenile justice services. Governor John Engler, on December 21, 1998, announced that the legislature gave "near" unanimous support for a package of bills that would give Wayne County the tools and resources to address juvenile delinquency problems at a local level. The Juvenile Justice Block Grant Program will establish a block grant to Wayne County beginning October 1, 1999, to be used for programs serving juvenile delinquents. Its goals are to reduce . . .
