NIEHS Report: Public Health Impact Of Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder May Be Underestimated

OPEN MINDS, The Behavioral Health & Social Service Industry Analyst Industry News According to a survey of parents in one North Carolina County, about 10 percent of all elementary school children in the county have received a diagnosis of attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and about 7 percent (or about 70 percent of those who have been diagnosed) are currently taking medication to treat ADHD. These were some of the findings of a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) report, which also concluded that the public health impact of ADHD may be underestimated by school and public health officials . . .
