New Mexico Executive Order 2014 – 001 Requiring Child Protective Services Caseworkers To Check Law Enforcement Records Before Rendering Investigation Decisions

On April 3, 2014, the state of New Mexico issued an executive order directing the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) to expand the scope of the Statewide Central Intake (SCI) to include becoming a source of information on all prior reports of child abuse and neglect for law enforcement agencies and agencies and departments under the Office of the Governor. The order directs CYFD to require that child protective service caseworkers obtain police reports and investigatory materials before making investigation decisions . . .
