Last week, I discussed Jeffrey Brenner, M.D., the Executive Director of the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers, and his comments at the National Council Annual Conference on the need for health care to borrow from the industrial world in its standardization of processes (see Health Care Must Industrialize!). Dr. Brenner spoke of this industrialization as the “focused factories” concept of health care – systems built around highly specific practices that utilize focused and standardized methods of treatment.
