Wisconsin Legislative Audit Committee Scope Of Proposed Audit of Child-Placing Agency Oversight

On February 19, 2013, the Wisconsin Legislative Audit Committee announced plans to audit the state’s oversight of foster care provider organizations in the wake of allegations by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) that one organization may have overcharged the department by as much as $6.1 million between 2009 and 2011. The audit will focus on the state’s 24 licensed child placing organizations (15 non-profit and nine for-profit) that oversee foster care homes for about 930 foster children.
