Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) Income Conversion Methodologies

This document provides an overview of ways states can convert their current Medicaid income eligibility standards to a new methodology of calculating Medicaid income eligibility based on the Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) calculation used by the Internal Revenue Service for personal income tax returns. The new methodology is intended to simplify and standardize Medicaid income eligibility across the states. This document provides the outcomes of a 10-state pilot program that tested five different conversion methods.
