Findings of the Opioid Task Force and Massachusetts Department of Public Health Recommendations on Priorities for Investments in Prevention, Intervention, Treatment and Recovery
The Massachusetts Opioid Task Force was created by the Governor’s order on March 27, 2014 to produce specific policy recommendations for controlling a public health emergency related to opioid addiction in the state. On June 10, 2014, the task force released its recommendations. They include expansion of treatment beds; formation of a centralized treatment access navigation system for patients, families, and first responders to locate services; a public-facing dashboard to help consumers choose services; additional opioid prevention coalitions for support and education; and more stringent safeguards for those opioids that are most frequently misused and abused.
