The Nevada Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) informed the state Senate HHS Committee about its discharge planning procedures for individuals admitted to a state psychiatric hospital. An incident in California revealed lapses in current procedures, which resulted in an allegation that Nevada was patient dumping because state hospital patients were discharged out-of-state with no transition planning. The Department presented admission and discharge data for July 1, 2012 through February 28, 2013.
