Understanding Michigan’s Long-Term Supports and Services Workforce: Findings from Medicaid Home and Community-Based ProviderOrganization Surveys Executive Summary

Authors Tameshia Bridges, MSW and Hollis Turnham, JD, with PHI Michigan prepared the report for the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging, in the Michigan Department of Community Health. The analysis is based on surveys of MI Choice, CMH, and Home Help Medicaid waiver provider organizations. The project is an effort by the state to study the size, stability, and compensation levels of the direct care workforce supporting participants in Michigan’s Medicaid-funded HCBS programs. The researchers reported three data points: workforce volume, stability, and compensation rates.
