On April 24, 2013, the Committee on Energy and Commerce released a memorandum on whether or not the Health Information Portability and Accountability Acts (HIPAA) privacy rule interferes with the timely and continuous flow of health information between health care providers, patients, and families, thereby impedes patient care, and in some cases, public safety.
