National Health Expenditures 2013 Highlights
This document released in November 2014 is a highlights summary of the 2013 National Health Expenditure data. During calendar year, national health spending in the United States reached $2.9 trillion, up 3.6% over the $2.8 trillion spent in 2012. The $2.9 trillion in 2013 includes four types of costs: personal health care expenditures on medical goods and services consumed by patients; it also includes the net cost of private health insurance premiums, government administration, and government public health activities.
