Medicare Program; Medicare Shared Savings Program: Accountable Care Organizations, Proposed Rule

On December 1, 2014, the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed adjustments to the Medicare Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program to promote transition to performance-based risk arrangements for ACOs participating in the Shared Savings Program (MSSP). The proposal includes provisions for expanded use of telehealth, changes to beneficiary attestation, and more flexibility around post-acute care referrals.
