South Carolina Governor Haley Names New Child-Welfare Director
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley appointed a director at a Clemson University youth outreach program to take over the child welfare agency. Susan Alford succeeds Lillian Koller after interim service by Amber Gillum. Holly Pisarik, who recently stepped aside as director of the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, will assist Ms. Alford. Ms. Koller resigned in June amid ongoing hearings by senators investigating claims that excessively high caseloads and high turnover were threatening children’s safety.
