New Mexico Tourism Chief To Lead Child Welfare Agency
Governor Susana Martinez of New Mexico announced in December that Yolanda Deines, who led the Children, Youth and Families Department agency for four years, stepped down. The state’s tourism chief, Monique Jacobson, took her place. Martinez credited Jacobson with being able to produce results and having a strong desire to improve the well-being of New Mexico’s children. Martinez also named Barbara Damron to lead the Higher Education Department.
