In May 2013, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a fact sheet covering characteristics of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) participating in the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) and the Medicare Pioneer ACO program. Information includes program size, population density, payment characteristics, ACO composition, region, demographics of assigned beneficiaries, risk profile, historical per capita annual expenditures, and utilization statistics. The fact sheet also includes a map of MSSP and Pioneer ACO counts by county.
