The Technical Assistance Collaborative and the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities report documents housing affordability for people with disabilities. Authors Emily Cooper, Ann OHara, Nikki Singer, and Andrew Zovistoski found that to rent a one-bedroom apartment at the average national price, people with disabilities would have to spend 104% of the payments they receive from Supplemental Security Income each month. The report included recommendations for policymakers on changing housing legislation to be more cost effective through the use of subsidies.
